The Silky Terrier is protective of its own territory, making it a good little watchdog, announcing the presence of estranges. He will not leave your side watching for your love and trust, weather for adults or kids this little dog is A must. The Silky is approx. 25 cm {10 in} shoulder high. The Yorkshire Terrier
The Yorkshire Terrier was created around the middle of the 19th Century by crossing a number of Terrier varieties that existed at that time. This was done around the middle to north of England, especially in the County of Yorkshire, hence the name Yorkshire Terrier.
The "early" Yorkshire Terriers could be as large as 6 kg (14 lbs.) and were used, like other Terrier breeds, to kill rats. Over the time breeders produced a smaller, more beautiful dog that was a household pet and show dog, rather than a rat killer.

AVERAGE LIFESPAN
When considering a dog, please realise that you are taking it on for its lifetime. Yorkshire Terriers can live up to 16 years of age and occasionally even older.

AVERAGE SIZE & WEIGHT
      Yorkshire Terriers generally weigh
from 1.8 kg (4 lbs) to 3.2 kg (7 lbs).

IT IS COMMON SEANCE.
The foundation of a good relationship with a dog is the making of a few sensible decisions.
The first and perhaps most important decision are to carefully select a breed of dog that is most likely to fit into the family temperament and lifestyle. There are many breeds to choose from, there are breeds that can cope with hot, muggy temperatures like the Australian Silky Terrier, he meet the special need for a compact pet and home companion for apartment and urban dwellers.
Silky's have always been a popular house pet, and can put up Silky's are hardy, non-shedding 'odourless, and also a great little watch dogs. with children. But he has some right to be a full member of your family.
He thrives on social interaction, praise and love. He has the right to regular exercise. He has the right to quality health care, and a good diet. He depends on you. Once the breed is selected, the buyer should look for a breeder who is a registered member of a Dog club and produces pedigree puppies that fit the breed’s physical description.

Why choose a "purebred" dog
Be aware!
So many people have bought an appealing "little" puppy which was sold to them as a Silky Terrier OR Yorkshire Terrier, ( or a DESIGNER DOG ), Labradoodle or a Cavoodudle and so on. Only to find out later that the father was a Blue- Heeler.
I am firmly against crossbreeds. The downside is you can not blame the dog for the outcome, later in live. " When you buy a "purebred", you know exactly what you are going to get. 99 % " All Dogs DNA tested if you wish.
( We can never hope to purge the breed of all defects!, but through selective breeding we can work to stack the "genetic deck" more in our favour over the years.)
Even an expert cannot look at a 6-8 week- old cross breed and guess his ultimate weight, size coat or very important-character or what about any medical issues?. This is not to say that you should not buy a cross breed dog from an animal shelter this is your choosing after all. Rather that you should keep all these points in you mind when considering to buy a small
Australian Silky OR Yorkshire Terrier, purchase one from a well known and registered Breeder which is a member of the                                                                                         Dogs Australia.

  • Reverence from A silky lover.
  • Your description of the Australian Silky and his traits is exactly right. And even the doctors here agree with you about the health benefits of owning a Silky Terrier. My cardiologist told me it was time for me to find another Silky Terrier, and he was right. My depression is gone without any drugs. My blood pressure is normal for the first time in years. I have gained a lot of mobility thanks to the four walks a day that every Silky Terrier loves. And I met a lot of my neighbours that I didn't know even though I have lived here for years. No one can resist the urge to pet a Silky Terrier. They are wonderful ambassadors for their breed, and for Australia too. So this old great-grandmother sends thanks to Australia for developing this wonderful breed. There's only one thing wrong with a Australian Silky Terrier—
Once you own one nothing else will do.
    Thanks again, Jacquie McCurdy.

  • SELECT YOUR PUPPY!
When you select your Puppy, you will have spent quite some time considering exactly what type of puppy you should bay. What size would best fit in with your household; how much exercise space and time the dog will receive; how much he will cost to feed,
house and keep in good health and condition etc.; and having decided all this, what type of temperament your dog will need to have to fit in happily with in your family, and what about the children? Dog or Bitch?
The choice between dog and bitch is also of preference.
    "Yes" you made the best suitable decision;
The Australian Silky Terrier or A Yorkshire Terrier is A must.
The Silky & Yorkie is more Suitable to the Australian climate and is much easier to handle generally. The Australian Silky & Yorkie Terrier makes a good smart little watch dog, is easily house-trained and being a small and affectionate, is eminently suitable for small -house or flat - dwellers.
Life expectancy is approx.; 14 years for Silky Terriers &
    16 years for Yorkshire Terriers.

This transport BOX is the best, to toilet train your puppy at Night time. But please close the door! Bed time 9 pm - UP in the morning 6 am At the time your puppy wakes up, take it outside to a grassy place for doing his business, Make sure your always use the same exit door if you are taking your dog onto the grass. Addles for the first weeks.
Or many other kind of playpens are ideal for your puppy / dog when you need a time out zone and need a place where your dog is safe. Place some newspaper or puppy pads on the floor give your dog a cuddly place to sleep on, some toys and a bowl of water maybe even a chew bone. Now you can get on with what you need to do and your dog is safe and can not get under foot, hurt or in trouble.

Work on praise for correct behaviour please!
    When you get him home!
A Silky or Yorkshire-terrier (dog) is a creature of habit,
Toilet training starts from an early age as soon as puppies start crawling walking around in their playpen or box at that stage we place some newspaper or puppy pads in the box so that the puppies learn to do their business onto it and not onto their bedding.
As the puppies get older they get more and more confident and with a bit of encouragement go onto the newspaper or puppy pads. From about the age of 6 - 8 weeks is the time to start teaching your puppy to go onto the grass.
This is usually easily done by observing a few golden rules. Each time your puppy wakes up, take it outside to a grassy or other absorbent area and wait to see if it empties out if the pup performs, give it a command word "Get busy", god boy/girl. the pup will learn to go on command, after some time. If the pup has emptied out it will probably be safe to bring it in for an hour or so. Keep doors to adjoining rooms closed.
Also take your puppy outside within 3 too 5 minutes of each meal. Full tummies tend to make pups empty out.
Pay attention. Pups circle before they go to the toilet. [Most do anyway]. If you are unable to keep a close eye on the pup use a cage or crate in the house to confine the pup and observe the above rules to take the pup out. This works with adult Silky's too. 3 too 5 weeks is needed to train most animals although many are quicker.
Most dogs empty on something absorbent. If you have carpet inside and concrete outside, chances are your pooch prefers the carpet. Overcome this by providing something absorbent outside a special toilet training pad, tray of soil piece of carpet you can clean. "Good Boy" toilet training adds to encourage and discourage areas are available. When house training, never punish the animal, it is your fault for being careless. Punishing often teaches pups to sneak off and do it out of sight in another room, or behind the lounge. Work on praise for correct behaviour. Thoroughly clean "wrong" places. Perfume often repels dogs - try some on the spot. An upside down terracotta flower pot is sometimes recommended for male puppy! Dogs tend to return to the same place. A fully indoor dog can be trained to one place, a indoor pet potty lawn or something similar to that will help you.- use guides above.
Being firm repetitive is one of the most important things you need to do when it comes to toilet training. If your dog had an accident inside please clean it up but never use pino clean cleaner this product smells for dogs like Cat pee.
